According to a report from WMAZ Charlton Healthcare Corporation bought Lower Oconee Community Hospital in Glenwood, Georgia. The hospital in Wheeler County closed two weeks ago, but is now reopened under new management.

Lower Oconee is the first property owned by Norman King's new company Charlton Healthcare Corporation, and purchasing other small area hospitals will be considered. King, who was an associate administrator of the hospital in 1986 when it was formerly Wheeler County Hospital, said he expects to maintain current services at the 25-bed Lower Oconee, but expects to eventually reduce staff.
