The Milwaukee Business Journal reports that Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare has begun a $54 million project to incorporate Epic Systems' electronic medical records system over five years.

While Wheaton has used Epic since 2012 for clinical records, this new project will link records with all member hospitals.

The $54 million cost is being spread over five years. Costs include software, hardware, implementation, third-party costs, travel costs, conversion costs, charge master consolidation, consulting support, device costs and Epic Project team salaries.

Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare, of Glendale, WI, is a 1,087-bed health system that is affiliated with seven hospital affiliations in Wisconsin.
