Recap 2018: Healthcare Trends and New Intelligence

We've had an unbelievable year here at Definitive Healthcare. Our team has grown to nearly 300 talented and hard-working professionals who ensure that our 1,800 clients successfully leverage our platform to achieve their business goals.

Improved data and analytics

This year, our product team made substantial improvements to our data. Most notably, our clients now have access to commercial medical claims data from private payors in addition to our existing intelligence on Medicare and Medicaid claims. We also integrated diagnosis and procedure data by ICD-10 code, allowing users to segment patient and provider information using the most updated medical coding system.

Users can also take advantage of new features in our visual dashboards. These interactive tools are graphic representations of information on market share, quality metrics, physician referrals, and treatment of conditions such as sepsis, heart attacks, COPD, and other therapy areas. The customizable visuals are integral to empowering our clients to gather healthcare market data at a glance and keep their fingers on the pulse of shifting trends.

Our affiliations data also saw a major update this year. Users can now see relationships between academic medical centers and medical schools and deepen their understanding of where healthcare providers are being educated. In addition, we've launched predicted employment for physicians, allowing clients to see the facility in which a physician is most likely to practice. Our goal with these new intelligence integrations is to enable our clients to improve their understanding of the vast healthcare market and how its major players are connected.

We're able to bring our clients this wealth of information thanks to our in-house research team. In 2018 alone, our analysts made 670,000 phone calls leading to the addition of over 106,000 new hospital and facility executives and the confirmation of more than 1.1 million executive names and titles. Our research analysts also acquired exclusive knowledge on nearly 200 hospital technology changes during the course of their conversations with facilities across the U.S.

Awards and recognition

I'm lucky to lead a scrappy and motivated team here at Definitive. This company is a special place with an amazing culture and a real commitment to the community and each other, and I think it is vital that we keep that culture and value system as we continue to rapidly grow. The dedication of our team to improving our product and our client experience is apparent to me, but it is an honor to have others recognize the achievements we've made as a company.

For the second year in a row, we've received the following awards:

Deloitte Technology Fast 500

Deloitte, the largest global professional services network and one of the "Big Four" accounting organizations, recognized Definitive Healthcare as one of the companies with the largest revenue growth over the past three years. We were ranked #184 in North America, with a 528 percent revenue growth between 2014 and 2017. The Technology Fast 500 acknowledges the 500 fastest-growing technology companies in industries like software, life sciences, and communications.

Inc. 5000 Fastest-Growing Company

Every year, Inc magazine recognizes the 5,000 private U.S. companies with the greatest 3-year revenue growth by percentage. The magazine ranked us #974 in the country, as well as the #18 fastest-growing company in Boston and #19 in Massachusetts. To qualify, companies must have reported a minimum revenue of $100,000 in 2014 and $2 million in 2017.

Boston Business Journal Fastest-Growing Company in Massachusetts

The Boston Business Journal released a Fast 50 list of the companies reporting the most rapid growth from 2014 to 2017. In an annual awards ceremony, we were named #11 in the state.

Boston Business Journal Best Place to Work

In addition to ranking in the Fast 50, we were also named a best place to work by the Boston Business Journal. We were awarded #5 at a ceremony in June. Companies were ranked on factors such as company culture, benefits, work-life balance, and other criteria.

Boston Globe Top Place to Work

The Boston Globe holds an annual ranking of the top places to work in the state of Massachusetts, ranking employers based on Glassdoor reviews. We ranked #8 out of 40 in the medium-sized business category.

Next in 2019

Of all the recognition we received in 2018, my favorite are the best-place-to-work nominations. As we continue to grow and bring on new team members, company culture remains an integral part of who we are as a business. From seasonal celebrations and inter-departmental mixers to supporting more than 30 charitable organizations through DefinitiveCares, I am continually inspired and humbled by this team. DefinitiveCares was started in order to create opportunities and structure for employees to be part of something larger than themselves. We are proud to have a 100% volunteer rate from our employees in both 2017 and 2018.

We're excited to launch several new data integrations in 2019, which will give our clients even more of a competitive edge in their industries. Our team members will also be attending conferences like HIMSS and FAH this year, so feel free to come visit us and ask questions or talk shop! Keep an eye on our website or subscribe to our newsletter to stay updated on all our newest product launches.

Finally, I'd like to thank our 1,800 clients and the users who put their faith in us every day. We enjoy seeing our clients achieve their business goals, and look forward to continue working together this year. As always, I couldn’t be more proud of both what we have accomplished and what is to come.
